Tests reveal more unwanted metals in west county wells

After finding dangerously high levels of heavy metals in private wells in Gambrills, the county Health Department has found lead levels above federal guidelines in three other nearby wells.

As a precautionary measure, the department has decided to test 25 more privately-owned wells in Gambrills and Crofton within an area bounded by a sand and gravel mine, Arapaho Way off Rieldel Road and the Crofton Station Shopping Center.
