The fire broke out in the rear of 663 Cadbury Drive just before 2 p.m., said Lt. Alex Makris, a county fire spokesman. It quickly spread into the adjoining home at 661, where Connie Kautz, 68, was listening to music and shopping on the Internet.
Another neighbor, Christina Merritt, saw black smoke coming from the building as she pulled into her driveway and called 911. Ms. Merritt and her mother quickly went next door to pull Mrs. Kautz from the fire.
"We're just so lucky everyone made it out," Mrs. Kautz said.
