New wells, barrier wall considered in fly ash planPublished 12/31/07
An evaluation by Constellation Energy Group shows the electric company may install additional monitoring wells, and possibly build barrier walls, to keep harmful substances from contaminating groundwater in Gambrills. The analysis is a part of a consent decree from Maryland Department of the Environment that requires Constellation to fix contamination already caused by fly ash, a byproduct from burning coal, that was dumped into a surface mine.
