For the first time since the famed ferry boat Emma Giles last plied local waters 70 years ago, a ferry boat is setting sail on the West and Rhode rivers and environs.

Although it won't provide ferry service per se, and won't be transporting hogsheads of tobacco, nor oysters to market in Baltimore, the 65-foot Richard Lee will be available for charter, and for use by local nonprofit groups to boost knowledge of the area's ecology and history.
