Hoyer: With BRAC jobs, pain comes with gainPublished 07/11/08
Maryland is a big winner when it comes to new military jobs and shouldn't rely on the federal government to pay the full cost of the impact on roads and schools when thousands of jobs begin to arrive, House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer told business leaders this week. But the federal government did make the decision to send the jobs here and should cover some of the costs, especially when it comes to transportation improvements, Mr. Hoyer, D-St. Mary's, told members of the Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber in Laurel on Monday. County planners are anticipating about 22,000 new jobs at Fort George G. Meade by 2015....
