Sharon Ascherl of Odenton had not been an AARP member for long when she received a news release inviting artists to submit their work for the AARP Foundation's 2009 calendar contest. She was excited. Find Us On Facebook
"I'm trying to get out there - I'm trying to get my name out," she said. "I thought that could be a great chance." Mrs. Ascherl was one of 14 artists whose works were selected for the calendar. The work was then auctioned off to raise money for AARP charities. Her painting, "A Maryland Crabfeast," is the artwork accompanying the month of September in the 2009 calendar, available now...
