Spate of crime causes worries

A string of thefts, robberies and burglaries is causing some people in west county bedroom communities to lose sleep. They are worried about brazen daytime crimes that seem to have popped up on every corner of every well-manicured cul-de-sac.

So far nobody has been hurt, but people are frustrated by the volley of property crimes, some of which have involved gun-wielding crooks.

Since Nov. 26, there have been at least 48 property crimes in Russett, a dozen in Seven Oaks, 30 in Still Meadows and Pioneer City and 118 in Crofton and Gambrills.

People have to stop being complacent! Just because you live in a nice neighborhood doesn't mean you are free from crime. It's everywhere (and crime goes up when times get tough). And it would be wise for those living in these areas to create neighborhood watches and stick with them. See a suspicious person or car in the neighborhood? Report it! Head on a swivel...be aware of what's going on in your neighborhood!

Spate of crimes - 2008-12-29 16:36:38

My My, and they act surprised, but still no one has addressed WHO is committing 99 percent of those crimes, as that would be " Politically Incorrect ". Meanwhile honest citizens are cringing in fear in their homes.
