Joshua Lawrence Vincent, 15, son of Chris and Amy Vincent, recently received the highest award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout Award, at a ceremony held earlier this year at Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church in Odenton.

To earn their Webelos pins, Den 8 from Pack 769 in Odenton built a bird and bat house for Piney Orchard Elementary School. There will be a ceremony soon at the school, recognizing the boys for their work. From left, Morgan Wise, Isaiah Dyson, Conner Markwell, Liam Perry, Chris Mohr and Marcelo Stenzel (kneeling).
Joshua had to earn 21 merit badges and successfully plan, lead and complete a community service project to earn his award.
For his Eagle project, Joshua constructed two wooden information kiosks at the Patuxent Wildlife Research Refuge in Laurel. The project took more than 250 man hours, and the cost of the materials for the kiosks was raised from donations, yard sales and the...
