Councilman Ron Dillon, R-Pasadena, who voted in favor of slots at Arundel Mills, said some petitioners have told people the referendum would put slots at Laurel Park. That's not the case, Dillon said.

Ron Dillon's conflict of interest - 2010-02-23 11:54:51
Councilman Ron Dillon refused to excuse himself from the zoning question on slots at Arundel Mills, or anywhere else in Anne Arundel County, despite the fact that his familys bus business is involved with shuttling citizens to casinos. At the council hearings Dillons explanation was that transporting people to casinos was just a tiny portion of his familys business. However, any portion is a conflict of interest. Dillon then proceeded to vote for slots at the mall, arguing for an urgent need for funds and jobs for Anne Arundel County. Surely one of the biggest bus companies in Anne Arundel County, the Dillon Bus Company, will be shuttling busloads of folks, from all corners of Anne Arundel County and from every corner of the state, to the Arundel Mills casino once it is up and running. Should even one Dillon bus bring even one player to the Arundel Mills casino, the attorney general of the State of Maryland should be made aware of this matter and the voters of Anne Arundel County should make Dillon accountable for refusing to excuse himself from voting on an issue which is so intrinsically self-serving to his family business. And now he is spouting off against a democratic initiative to let the citizens of Anne Arundel County actually decide on this issue. Jobs for Anne Arundel County, ha. Jobs for the Dillon Bus Company..
