Signs of life are emerging in the struggling, aging stretch of commercial businesses along Route 175 in northern Odenton known as "Boomtown."

Construction crews clear the site of the old Okinawa Restaurant along the gritty stretch of Route 175 in North Odenton better known as “Boomtown.” A new Royal Farms convenience store will be built in its place. Area leaders point to the construction as a sign of the redevelopment of Boomtown.
Construction crews in the past few weeks knocked down a dilapidated, graffiti-covered, vacant building near the Blue Water Boulevard intersection that had housed two shuttered eateries to make way for a new Royal Farms convenience store.
West county officials said they are hoping to revitalize Boomtown and the greater Odenton area despite red tape and a struggling economy.
County officials recently passed a revised master plan for the planned 1,600-acre Odenton Town...
