The leaves are turning and there's a chill in the air. There's also a chill of excitement up your spine - the 2009-2010 musical performance season has begun.
All across Anne Arundel County maestros are reaching for their batons as musicians and vocalists wait expectantly. The spotlights are warming up, curtains are rising. Indoors or out, there is something that is bound to please those who love music.
And it all begins this weekend at Maryland Hall, where the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra launches its season tomorrow and Saturday with a performance featuring Anthony McGill on the clarinet.
Throughout the season,...

Support all local arts - 2009-09-29 15:34:51
I must heartily second and agree with the comment from Mary Ann K. above. Annapolis should be proud to be the home base of Maryland's only fully professional ballet company and be doing all that it can to support this arts organization. The young dedicated dancers in this company work long, hard hours to bring the best in ballet performance to the state of Maryland. They live, work, shop and pay taxes in Annapolis and deserve the recognition and support of the local newspaper to promote attendance at their performances.

forgot something - 2009-09-26 22:33:49
It's a shame that you didn't mention Maryland Hall's other resident company, Ballet Theatre of Maryland, and their season performances of Beauty and the Beast, Nutcracker, Mystery Nutcracker, An American Southwest Carmen, and the Director's Choice. All of these performances feature Dianna Cuatto's award-winning original choreography to beautiful music, and highlight Maryland's only fully professional ballet company. It was a glaring omission, especially since you took pains to include CityDance's one performance in Annapolis in February.
