Most of the children who performed in “Brundibar” in 1943 were eventually shipped off to Auschwitz. Ela Weissberger, a survivor who is the only person to perform in all 55 shows at Terezin, will share her personal story with the audience at each show. The opera also includes poems written by Jewish children that were found in the walls and floorboards of concentration camps after they were liberated. The children’s opera is about Little Joe and his sister Annette (joined by a cat, a sparrow and a dog), who outwit the town bully, Brundibar the organ grinder. The opera reflects the good and evil of the day through a simple story of friendship and hope. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Friday; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for children and seniors. Order tickets at 410-757-2281 or go to childrenstheatreofannapolis.org.
