One of the perks of writing this column is the chance to use it as an excuse to check out the bars and restaurants in town, especially when new ones open. As those of you who are parents know, getting out with two little ones at home is not always easy, so having the column as an excuse is quite nice. Recently, I pulled the column card and headed out to experience one of Annapolis' newest eating and drinking establishments.

John Miller, part owner of the new Annapolis restaurant Level on West Street, handcrafts a Pisco Sour.
Level opened about a couple of months ago at 69 West St., taking over the space once inhabited by Kyma. Like Kyma, Level is a small plates lounge, but that's where the similarities end.
