Apparently, Giacomo Puccini thought so in 1887 after seeing "La Tosca" - the original dramatic play by Victorien Sardou - performed in Milan, Italy. While the composer's goal to adapt the work to suit the operatic stage was easier said than done - years of negotiations, delays and disputes - Puccini's "Tosca" eventually premiered in 1900 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. The rest, as they say or sing, is history.
