St. Patrick's Day has been celebrated in the United States since at least 1737, when the Irish Society of Boston organized the first U.S. St. Patrick's Day parade.

Here in Annapolis, we have a strong tradition of celebrating the feast day of St. Patrick, but whether that's because of a strong Irish ancestry or because of our fondness for merrymaking could be debated for hours. There is no question, however, that Annapolis likes to celebrate, and St. Patrick's Day is the perfect opportunity.
