Environmentalists want stronger city billPublished 12/18/07
Just three weeks after a plastic bag ban bill was sacked, environmentalists were back at the City Council last night pleading for stronger environmental practices in the city.
City officials say they are working to beef up Mayor Ellen O. Moyer's bill, which effectively killed Alderman Sam Shropshire's efforts to ban plastic bags.
Ms. Moyer's bill would establish an environmental committee to encourage the review of residential and business practices and policies. The environmental review committee will be made up of department heads from the Department of Neighborhood and Environmental Programs, Public Works, Central Services...
