But along Anne Arundel County's 500-plus miles of coastline, there are relatively few low-cost opportunities to go for a swim, cast a line or launch a boat.
Boating opportunities, in particular, are few and far between.
There are just two full-fledged, public boat launching areas in the county. There are more spots to put kayaks and canoes in the water, but paddlers often find themselves launching at unofficial sites.

The eastern shore does by far have more boat ramps then the west ..... I can think of several in Talbot Co alone. I would have to say from personal experience that the launch at Sandy Point is the easiest to deal with, however parking can be an issue.

Sad but true. - 2008-07-19 16:34:25
Many waterfront communities have excellent launching facilities but there is no public access for several reasons. Parking and traffic can get to be a nightmare and the trash that folks leave is often overwhelming. In one community you couldn't even get NEAR the launch ramp without running a gauntlet of tattooed drunkards demanding a 'ramp fee' in the form of cash or unmentionable lewd suggestions...while their buddies leered and jeered at any females that might be accompanying you. Security to prevent this behavior can run well over $40,000.00 a year and insurance costs are astronomical. So it's no wonder this county has few public facilties.
