Rivers have always been in his life, so call it a natural progression for Chris Trumbauer to become the West/Rhode Riverkeeper, steward of and advocate for one of Anne Arundel's most scenic waterways.

Chris Trumbauer, on the job as the new West/Rhode Riverkeeper since July, takes a curve on his rounds on the West River last week. In addition to keeping an eye on the rivers and their watershed, he also hopes to boost citizen involvement in improving the waterways and their environs.Find Us On Facebook
He grew up on a creek across the Chester River from Chestertown, where he and his two brothers spent their youth boating, fishing, crabbing, and playing in and around the Rosin Creek and the river. "We had a rowboat, a little motor boat and later a small sailboat," he recalled. "We had the run of the creek.
