DNR wants recreational crabbers to get licensesPublished 11/11/08
The state is working on a plan to license every single recreational and dockside crabber, in hopes of better counting how many crabs are caught each year. Currently, waterfront homeowners who use pots or traps from their piers and people who use handlines don't need to have a license. The Department of Natural Resources is proposing a $2 annual license for recreational crabbers in those categories, which could affect up to 65,000 people. Is the DNR going to have us report each crab we catch? How about a sticker for each crab pot? What a joke!!! This is another worthless government program. The cost to colect the money and enforce the law will be far greater than the amount collected.
