On Oct. 31, Jay Baldwin faced a large crowd of students, educators and environmentalists at the family's new development called the Preserve at Severn Run at the headwaters of the Severn River.

Instead of encountering an angry crowd of protestors hurling insults and carrying signs, Jay spoke to an enthusiastic group of supporters. Students brought by Steve Barry of the Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center helped plant trees, and environmentalists Allison Albert, Sara Caldes and Ted Gattino proclaimed this a breakthrough for Anne Arundel County.
