Our Bay: This Week's Take: What can you do to save the bay?Published 12/06/08
On Dec. 9, 1983 - 25 years ago - I was one of 700 enthused, hopeful participants in witnessing the signing of the first Chesapeake Bay Agreement. The governors of three states and other officials solemnly committed to restore the bay and the Chesapeake Bay Program began. Unfortunately, the bay recovery is badly lagging and living resources are declining. The blue crab fishery was recently declared a disaster and such a declaration could equally apply to bay oysters, shad, eels, soft clams and sturgeon. We have so poisoned our waters that reports abound of serious infections in humans who come in contact with Anne Arundel...
