Storm Water Management - 2010-01-03 10:45:00
I am amazed at the volume of run off - not from farms but from homes and driveways! They should require folks to retain more water on their property with something like this cistern: http://bit.ly/8HejDC

The federal government has made a resolution for a "new era of shared federal leadership" on the bay.
This is an unprecedented opportunity, but we need to tell them to correct the mistakes of the past and get it right for once: we need enforceable limits on all pollution.
Send in your comment before the deadline on Friday the 8th:

bay clean-up - 2010-01-02 12:23:13
I spend most of my time on the water up in the susquahanna, and every year I see large slicks floating from Port Deposit down the river. I have a white boat and I am tired of scrubbibg my boat everytime I go out, so last year around the first of June I was out and ran into the same slicks, floating down the river in front of Perryville, and Havre de Grace. This stuff sticks to your boat and is very hard to get off, so I called the 800# for the Md. marine police, and reported it. The guy on the phone took my # and name and said he would try to get someone on it. I even told him where it was comming from. I spent the rest of the day in the area, and never saw one of the marine police, nor have I received a phone call to this day. Our fellow boaters with the larger boats, and the mariners are flushing bilges that time of year, and screwing up our bays, and rivers. Now, Do they need any more clues?
