Last year I wrote a story about the Hopkins family, owners of Mount Airy U-Pick Farm in Davidsonville. Their farm, which has been in the family for generations, is the last you-pick strawberry patch in Anne Arundel County.

More people responded to that story than most I have written; all excited about an opportunity to entice their family or friends into a foraging adventure and to support a local farming family. Some folks planned to make jam, jellies and syrups. Quite a few wondered how to freeze berries for later use. Many just wanted to know if the fresh berries really were better than store-bought.
