Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer Eugene Agapon, 65, a 25-year resident of Annapolis and previously of Gambrills, died of liver failure Oct. 28 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Chief Agapon was born Jan. 19, 1940, in Yugoslavia. When he retired from the Army he had more than 24 years of service. He then worked as a civilian for the Department of Defense before retiring again.
An avid fisherman, he was known as "Mean Gene, the Fishing Machine," his family said. He also loved to cook.
