House fire

A Millersville family escaped injury after their house at 260 Jumpers Hole Road caught fire around 7:30 p.m. Friday, county fire officials reported.

Firefighters saw heavy smoke when they arrived at the house, but were able to get the blaze under control by 8 p.m.

The fire began in a family room before spreading quickly throughout the home. One adult and three children, ages 13, 10 and toddler age, were inside at the time.

The home did not have working smoke detectors. The fire left $140,000 in damages and the cause is under investigation.
