Neland Smith
Neland Elvin Smith, 80, a three-year resident of Pensacola, Fla., and formerly of Stevensville and Glen Burnie, died of cancer Oct. 4 in Florida after a two-month illness.
Born Nov. 29, 1926, in Mount Juliet, Tenn., Mr. Smith earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Maryland in June 1963 and a master's degree from George Washington University in February 1973.
Mr. Smith served in the Army from 1945 to 1967, retiring as lieutenant colonel. He later worked as a computer systems analyst for the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, Md., for 15...
