Meat nabbed An unidentified woman stole crab meat from Safeway Friday, then nearly drove into the store employee who tried to stop her, county police said.
At 4:19 p.m., police received a call about a theft at the Safeway in the 2600 block of Housley Road in Annapolis.
Witnesses told officers that they saw a woman put merchandise in her purse and leave without paying, police said. A store employee followed her and saw her get into a maroon Oldsmobile minivan.
He stood behind the vehicle to get her to stop, but the woman put the car in reverse, then bumped into him with the vehicle, police said. The store employee moved to avoid further injury, but he was able to give officers surveillance video of what happened.
Witnesses told police that the woman stole 3.5 pounds of lump crab meat, valued at about $100.44. Police are working with the Motor Vehicle Administration to locate the woman.
Bicyclist injured
An Annapolis man was injured Thursday after his jacket lodged in the rear wheel of his bike while he was riding it, county police said.
At about 6:42 a.m. police went to the 1200 block of Cape St. Claire Road in Annapolis.
Dennis Crownover was lying on the ground, bleeding from his head, police said. Mr. Crownover told police that he was traveling along the street when his jacket lodged in the rear wheel of his 10-speed bike, causing his front wheel to turn, and he flipped over the handlebars, police said. He complained of back and head pain.
An ambulance took him to Anne Arundel Medical Center for treatment.

Computer stolen
Someone stole a laptop from an Edgewater church Saturday, county police said.
Officers went to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church at 4 Wallace Manor Drive after receiving a report about a theft.
The paster's office door had been unlocked, and the computer was taken at about 9 a.m., police said.
At the time, the church was open for a weekly yard sale and there were many people inside the building.
The laptop is valued at about $780, police said.
Theft from garage
Someone broke into a Harwood garage and stole nearly $1,300 worth of tools and other items, county police said.
On Thursday, officers went to the 4500 block of LR Willson Road for a report of theft.
The resident told police that, sometime from April 5 to April 17, someone stole a series of items from his garage.
He went to get his pressure washer from the garage on Thursday, when he noticed that it was missing, along with several other items.
The resident told police that the garage door is unlocked.
A chainsaw, a reciprocating saw, battery charger, deer stand and skill saw were stolen.
The items are valued at $1,275, police said.
