Obituaries for April 28

Monday's obituaries recognize: Dennis Chadwick, Myrl Connor, David Dacquisto, Christine Johnson, Robert Miller, Helen Moore, Nancy Radcliffe, and Inger Wilson.

Dennis Chadwick

Dennis Colin Chadwick, 57, a resident of Odenton, died of natural causes April 23 at his home.

Born Sept. 7, 1950 to the late George and Edith Chadwick, he graduated from Xenia, Ohio, High School in 1968 and Ohio University in 1975. He worked at the National Security Agency from 1975 to 2007.

He was a sergeant in the Air Force from 1969 to 1972 including two assignments in England.

He was a member of the MENSA Society, loved history, art, travel, music and genealogy.

He is survived by his wife Nancy (Roberts) Chadwick, who he married May 30, 1969; two daughters, Heather Ramirez of Los Angeles, Calif., and Amber Chadwick of Annapolis; one brother, Thomas Chadwick of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Julia Chadwick and Lisa Pummell of Cincinnati, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

A memorial gathering will held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Donaldson Funeral Homeand Crematory, 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton.

Memorial contributions may be mde online to the American Cancer Society, Mosaic of Hope, in memory of Dennis Chadwick.

Myrl Connor

Myrl Van Dyke Conner, 94, died of natural causes April 24 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, N.Y.

Born to the late David Brace Van Dyke and Harriet Petit Van Dyke on Jan. 14, 1914, in Newburgh, N.Y., she attended grammar and high school in New Brunswick, N.J.

She married the late Harding Peter Conner on Nov. 5, 1932.

The couple restored a pre-Revolutionary War era home in Piscataway, N.J., a part of which was eventually moved to the East Jersey Olde Towne Village, a re-creation of a colonial village along the Raritan River Valley.

Mrs. Connor worked as a financial secretary at the United Presbyterian Church of New Brunswick, N.J., the secretary to the superintendent of schools in Highland Park, N.J., and the secretary to the principal of Hamilton School in Highland Park.

She was an elder in the Northville United Presbyterian Church, a former member of the choir and past president and secretary of the Presbyterian Women.

Survivors include one daughter, Dixie Ann Sangster of Annapolis; two sons, Dr. Garret Harding Conner of Annville, Pa., and David Peter Conner of Baltimore; two sisters; Wanda Lamano of Concord, Calif. and Gloria Malloy of Pittsburg, Calif.; two brothers, David Paul Van Dyke of Meriden, Iowa, and Noel Van Dyke of Whiting, N.J.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Rebecca Sue Conner and Gail Anita Warwick.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. May 10 at Northville United Presbyterian Church, 161 Reed St., Northville, N.Y.

Interment will be at a later date in the Old Tennant Cemetery in Englishtown, N.J. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund, Northville United Presbyterian Church, 161 Reed St., Northville, NY 12134 or to a charity of choice.

David Dacquisto

David John Dacquisto, 53, a resident of Davidsonville for 19 years, died of cancer April 26 at his home.

Born Dec. 31, 1954 in Washington, D.C., he received a bachelor of arts degree with honors in economics from Harvard College in 1972, and a juris doctorate degree rom Harvard Law School in 1976. He was vice president of technology at the NAHB research center from 1984 to 2002. He was co-owner of New Port Partners LLC from 2002 to 2006.

His hobbies included computer programming, automobile technologies, medical sciences, astronomy and weather and chess.

Survivors include his wife, Frelenda Dacquisto; one son, John Dacquisto of Davidsonville; two daughters, Elizabeth Dacquisto of Davidsonville, and Nanci Miller of Newton Falls, Ohio; one brother, Michael Paul Dacquisto II of Redding, Calif. and Debra Dacquisto of Toledo, Ohio;

He was the son of the late Dr. Michael Paul Dacquisto and Miriam Blake Dacquisto of Indianapolis, Ind.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Life Celebration at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater. Interment is at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville.

Christine Johnson

Christine Michelle "Chrissy" Johnson, 41, of Annapolis, died of cancer on April 23 at Mandrin Hospice House after a five-month illness.

Born Jan. 7, 1967, in Washington, D.C., she graduated from Broadneck High School and Anne Arundel Community College. She worked various administrative positions in the legal field but was most remember by her employment with Middleton's Tavern and Lewnes Steak House where she worked for many years.

Ms. Johnson is survived by her two children Zachary and Maggie Wicker of Annapolis; her parents Harrison and Penny Sandrock of Camden, N.C., and Ron and Christine Johnson of Tampa, Fla., her grandmother Doris Guice of Camden; one brother, Greg Johnson of Annapolis; and three sisters, Daphne Wicker of Annapolis, Carla Liddy of Virginia Beach, Va., and Jill Vandam of Annapolis.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Red Maple Pavilion at Quiet Waters Park. A reception will follow at the Fleet Reserve Club, 100 Compromise St. Arrangements are by Hardesty Funeral Home.

Robert Miller

Robert Reino "Robby" Miller, Jr., 23, died April 24 in Jacksonville, Fla.

Born Dec. 13, 1984 in Washington, D.C., Mr. Miller attended the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va. He graduated from Stetson University in Deland, Fla., in 2007. He was currently employed with Fidelity Investments as a financial advisor.

He had a great sense of humor, was a water enthusiast spending some of his happiest times on the Wye River wake boarding, sailing and fishing. He also played lacrosse, soccer and ice hockey for local county leagues and for the schools he attended. He also loved to surf, ski, camp, play golf, and was a talented cook.

He is survived by his parents Robert Reino Miller and Patricia June Miller of Palm City, Fla., formerly of Queenstown; and one sister, Elizabeth O. Miller Walters.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. tomorrow at the River House, Queenstown Harbor, 310 Links Lane, Queenstown. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Kent Island United Methodist Church in Chester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Country School, 716 Goldsborough St., Easton, MD 21601.

Helen Moore

Helen Moore of Tracys Landing died at her farm from liver cancer on April 21. She was 85.

Mrs. Moore was born in Detroit, Mich., on Dec. 2, 1922, and lived in the Washington, D.C., area for the last 61 years.

In 1948 she founded the National Ballet School and Company and became a noted ballet teacher, developing many professional dancers and instructors who are currently performing and teaching throughout the United States.

Trained in Michigan under Gertrude Jory and Theodore Smith, founding members of the Cecchetti Council of America, she continued her training under Leon Fokine and Lisa Gardner, a friend who founded the Washington School of the Ballet with Mary Day. Her ballet training was enhanced by her theatre studies at George Washington University.

She served as president of the Northeast Regional Ballet Association and chairwoman of the East Coast Committee of the Cecchetti Council of America.

She belonged to the West River Sailing Club for many years, and enjoyed racing and cruising the family's 36-foot yacht. She was a champion swimmer and ice skater as a teenager.

She was passionate about animal welfare and always had an open door policy for any dog or cat in need of love and care, her family said.

She was married for over 55 years to the late William Moore. Survivors include one daughter, Pamela MacLean of Bowie; one son, William Moore, Jr. of Virginia; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A remembrance celebration will be held in June.

Nancy Radcliffe

Nancy Jean Radcliffe, 81, a resident of Grasonville, died after a brief illness at the Washington, D.C., Hospital Center April 24.

Born October 13, 1926 in Grasonville, she was the daughter of the late John Franklin and Florence Rebecca Clevenger Seward. She grew up in Grasonville and on March 14, 1946, she married the late Clayton Fletcher Radcliffe and they resided in Centreville and later moved to Grasonville, She was a waitress at Holly's Restaurant in Grasonville for over 40 years.

She loved cooking, baking cakes and spending time with her family.

Survivors include one son, Steven F. Radcliffe of Grasonville; one brother, John Seward of Goldsboro in Caroline County; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by nine sisters and three brothers.

Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. tomorrow. followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home in Centreville.

Internment is at the Chesterfield Cemetery in Centreville.

Inger Wilson

Inger Plattenburg Wilson, 42, died due to complications of a stroke April 22 at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Born on Sept. 4, 1965, she grew up in Annapolis and also lived between there and Glen Burnie, MD.

Inger attended Anne Arundel Co. Public Schools graduating from South River High School in 1984.

She worked as a dietician for the Anne Arundel and Howard County school systems.

She was a member of the Empowerment Temple AME Church and enjoyed playing bingo, going to yard sales and the Patapsco flea market.

She is survived by her husband Anthony Wilson of Glen Burnie; two sons, Trevin Blunt and Tyler Wilson of Glen Burnie; her parents, Harriet P. Freeman of Columbia and Norman DeMar of Baltimore; her stepfather, Harold Freeman, Jr., of Newark N.J.; one grandmother, Adlia DeMar; five sisters, Sheena DeMar of New Castle, De. , Tonja DeMar of Atlanta, Ga., Joy Freeman of Upper Marlboro, Stacy Freeman of Columbia and Coby Freeman of Glen Burnie; and one brother, Taj Freeman of Glen Burnie.

A funeral service will be held today (april 28) at 10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. at First Christian Community Church, 1800 Apostle Johnson Way.
