Today's obituaries recognize: Jeffrey Baumeister, Joseph Cardamone, Francis Dunn, Annie Griffin and John Jameson.

Jeffrey Baumeister

Jeffrey "Jeff" Moyer Baumeister, 58, a resident of Annapolis for 25 years, died of cancer May 14 at Stella Maris in Timonium.

 

Mr. Baumeister was born Jan. 17, 1950, in New Jersey to Ann VanStone Baumeister of Lakewood, N.J., and the late Walter Baumeister. He completed two years of college.

He worked in commercial truck sales and enjoyed reading and scuba diving.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Peter Baumeister.

Survivors include his wife of almost 25 years, Barbara Baumeister; two daughters, Andrea Bellis of Columbia and Karen Bellis of Glen Burnie; one sister, Diantha Mottley of Toms River, N.J.; and one grandchild.

A memorial gathering will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave. Funeral services and interment are private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Johns Hopkins Colon Cancer Center, care of Eden Stotsky, 600 N. Wolfe St., Halsted 612, Baltimore, MD 21287.

Joseph Cardamone

Joseph A. Cardamone, 77, of Arnold and previously of Glen Burnie, died of leukemia May 14 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.

Mr. Cardamone was born Feb. 28, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Michael and Aurelia Cardamone. He graduated from Brooklyn College.

He worked for the Naval Applied Science Laboratory until it closed, then worked as a materials engineering technician at the David Taylor Naval Ship R&D Center in Annapolis.

Mr. Cardamone was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park, where he served as an usher and participated in the social committee. He was a member of various Bible Study groups. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Moose Lodge and the Order of the Sons of Italy in America. He was very active in the local senior centers, especially the Arnold Senior Center where he volunteered in various capacities.

He enjoyed all kinds of dancing, from ballroom to country line dancing, listening to music and videotaping special events.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Cardamone; two daughters, Rosemarie Cardamone of Arnold and Michele Cardamone of Columbia; and three brothers, Anthony Cardamone of Kings Park, N.Y., Frank Cardamone of Valley Stream, N.Y., and Michael Cardamone of Boca Raton, Fla.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to the National Kidney Foundation of the National Capital Area, 5335 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Suite 300, Washington D.C. 20015 or to the National Kidney Disease Foundation of Maryland, 1107 Kenilworth Drive, Suite 202, Baltimore, MD 21204.


Francis Dunn

Francis "Frank" Sylvester Dunn, 80, a resident of Crofton for 36 years, died of heart failure May 15 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center after a year-long illness.

Known also as "Sam," Mr. Dunn was born July 11, 1927, in Noank, Conn., to the late Sylvester and Mary E. Dunn. He attended St. Patrick High School, Hunting Preparatory School and Spadic School of Criminal Investigation.

He was self-employed, running his own business in the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore areas.

He was a member of Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a general hand operator and was a member of county radio clubs. He also enjoyed training dogs, traveling to St. Augustine, Fla., watching alligators and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Mabel Dunn; one son, Stephen Dunn of Ocala, Fla.; two daughters, Carroll Dabney of Annapolis and Marianne Dunn of Ocala, Fla.; one sister, Margaret M. Dunn of Stoneham, Mass.; and four grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road in Bowie.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1800 Seton Drive in Crofton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Centers of Ocala, Administrations Office, 5664 S.W. 60th Ave., Ocala, FL 34474 or to the Arthritis Foundation, South County Chapter, 714 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., Severna Park, MD 21146.


Annie Griffin

Annie Elizabeth Griffin, 53, of Annapolis, died May 11 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a long illness.

Ms. Griffin was born Oct. 1, 1954, in Annapolis to the late Hugh Griffin and Effie Claggett. She attended county schools.

She worked briefly as a custodian at Annapolis Convalescent Nursing Home.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother and a friend to many, her family said. She enjoyed playing cards and Yahtzee, and watching game shows and soap operas.

Survivors include three sons, Thomas Eades Sr. of Pasadena, Karon Ford Sr. of Clarksville, Tenn., and John W. Jennings III of Annapolis; two daughters, Sheira Carter of Brooklyn and Jarmeika Jennings-Collison of Annapolis; one brother, Hugh Griffin of Annapolis; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Family and friends may visit at 9 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 31 West St. A Christian wake will follow at 10:30 a.m., and funeral services begin at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Bestgate Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.


John Jameson

John Brook Edward Jameson, 74, of Suitland, died of cardiac arrest May 13 at United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Mr. Jameson was born April 5, 1934, in Washington, D.C., and was a life-long native of Maryland except for the last three years.

He retired from a printing company and served in the Army for two years.

Survivors include two sons, Christopher Jameson Sr. of Edgewater and Mark Jameson of Clements; two daughters, Doreen Jameson of Lusby and Kathleen Summers of Charlotte Hall; three sisters, Margie Edwards Morgan of Upper Marlboro, Patricia Martin of North Beach and Rose Windsor of Indianhead; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Marshall's Funeral Home, 4308 Suitland Road in Suitland. A funeral service will follow immediately, with interment in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton.
