South County

Injury accident

A two-vehicle accident on Friday resulted in a serious injury.

About 11:24 p.m., the county Fire Department responded to the intersection of Muddy Creek Road and Galesville Road, according to fire officials.

A 42-year-old woman was taken by helicopter with serious but non-life threatening injuries to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, officials said.

North County

Suspicious fire

The county Fire Department is investigating a suspicious fire that took place yesterday.

At 2:37 a.m., units responded to a report of a boat fire at the intersection of Cohansey Trail and Hennesey Court. A 17 foot ProCraft boat was fully engulfed in flames, officials said.

Damage was estimated at $3,000 and the boat was a total loss, they said. Authorities believe the fire was intentionally set.

Drug bust

Two men were charged with drug and handgun offenses Tuesday after county police said they found marijuana, PCP, and a loaded gun during an investigation in Hanover.

At just after 4 p.m. officers received a report of two armed men selling drugs from a Dodge Stratus parked at Arbor Grove Drive and Dorchester Boulevard.

Police found the vehicle, but the two men got out and walked away as police got close. Police caught up with the men, and one ran away. After a chase, the second man was arrested.

Officers searched the men and the vehicle, and found 7 grams of marijuana, a vial of PCP, and a stolen 9 mm handgun, police said. The pistol was loaded with 23 cartridges, police said. Police also said they found more than $2,000 in cash on the men.

Shawn Marcus Wooden, 25, of Benning Road in Washington, D.C., and Antonio Lamont Preston, 21, of Pelham Court in Waldorf, Charles County, were each charged with possession of a firearm during drug trafficking, five counts drug possession, and handgun in vehicle.
