Saturday's obituaries recognize: Louise Fowler, Ruth Schumacher, Hilda Schwallenberg and Evelyn Shepherd Louise Fowler Louise Ann Fowler, 72, a resident of Riva for 30 years and previously of Montgomery County, died of complications from diabetes June 20 in her home. Mrs. Fowler was born Sept. 12, 1935, in Steubenville, Ohio, and graduated from high school in 1953. She worked for the federal government as a secretary for 42 years; her last position was in the engineer department at the Naval Academy. She enjoyed reading, TV, cats and her flower garden. Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Ronald James Fowler; and two sisters, Deloris Glosser of West Liberty, Ohio, and Dorothy Barrie of Beachwood, Ohio. Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Annapolis. Schumacher, 87, of Palm City, Fla., and previously of Annapolis, died June 17 at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart, Fla. Mrs. Schumacher was born May 10, 1921, in Rochester, N.Y., and graduated from Nazareth College in Pittsford, N.Y. She served as a Wave in the Navy during World War II. Mrs. Schumacher was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Palm City, Meadows Bridge Club and the Altar Guild, and served many hours as a Pink Lady at Martin Memorial Hospital South. She was preceded in death in 2006 by her husband, Robert Schumacher. Survivors include two sons, Robert F. Schumacher Jr. of Park City, Utah, and Raymond V. Schumacher of Santa Teresa, N.M.; four daughters, Jacqueline A. Macey and Joanne S. Shaw of Stuart, Fla., Janice R. Lyons of Grasonville and Judith M. Gibb of Stevensville; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Palm City. Online condolences may be made at www.heavencalled.com. Hilda Schwallenberg Hilda May Bryan Schwallenberg, 87, of Severna Park died of natural causes June 20 at Future Care Chesapeake. Mrs. Schwallenberg was born March 25, 1921, in Fawn Grove, Pa., to the late Royston and Violetta Bryan, and was raised in Baltimore. She was a housewife, and enjoyed playing cards and bingo and loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin R. Schwallenberg Sr.; and one son, Martin R. Schwallenberg Jr. Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Adams of Severna Park; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in New Cathedral Cemetery in Baltimore. Evelyn Shepherd Evelyn Watts Shepherd, 91, a resident of Harwood for 61 years and previously of Gambrills, died of natural causes June 19 at South River Rehabilitation Center in Edgewater. Mrs. Shepherd was born Nov. 13, 1916, on Fort George G. Meade to the late Emma Rebecca and Emory Elmore Watts Sr. She attended Arundel High School and Fleet Business School. She worked for the Prince George's County government in Upper Marlboro. She played the piano and organ and enjoyed crocheting and needle point work. She was preceded in death in 1987 by her husband of 40 years, John McLean Shepherd Jr.; and one brother, Emory E. Watts Jr. Survivors include one son, John McLean Shepherd III of Harwood; one daughter, Barbara E. Burdick of Harwood; and two grandchildren. Family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Hardesty Funeral Home, 905 Galesville Road in Galesville. Funeral services will follow at noon, and interment will be in Mount Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lothian. Online condolences may be made at www.hardestyfuneral home.com. |
