'Dog's World' columnist remembered fondlyPublished 06/26/08
Margaret Clara "Peggy" Johnson loved dogs. She raised Shelties, taught dog obedience classes for around 40 years, and for over 20 years she wrote the weekly "Dog's World" column for The Capital. Mrs. Johnson died of natural causes June 24 at Memorial Hospital in Easton after an illness lasting for about a week. "She was a very sweet lady, very independent, very loving and giving," said April Duncan, Mrs. Johnson's daughter. "She had lots of friends of all ages." Mrs. Johnson was born Nov. 25, 1921, in Philadelphia, and she attended Moore Institute, a three-year art...

Husband's death - June 30, 2008
I thought the information in the article regarding Peggy's husband could have been handled a little better. He died "around five years ago." No one could do the research to determine the date of his death? "...[A]nd sailing with her husband, while he was alive." Uh, thanks for clearing that up. I was confused...I thought maybe she had taken his corpse or ashes onto the sailboat with her... I'm used to the irresponsible journalism from the Capital, but a little research and editing could have made a nice article about a nice lady much better.

Remembering Peggy Johnson - June 26, 2008
Like many others, I had emailed with Peggy on various occasions about animal topics. I'm a volunteer with a dog rescue group and she was so supportive of shelters and rescue groups. You could tell how much she loved animals and she will be dearly missed. I hope they can find someone to carry on the tradition as I know she would want someone to continue to speak for the animals who cannot speak for themselves. Peggy, I know you were greeted with wagging tails at the Rainbow Bridge and can once again hug the dogs who reached the Bridge before you.
