Gun possession

An Annapolis man was charged Friday with weapons violations after police recovered two guns from him, city police said.

Officers executed a search and seizure warrant on Newtowne Drive. The resident told police someone gave her a bag to hold but she did not know what was in it, police said.

In the bag, officers found two guns and two loaded magazines. They found the man who owned the bag in the hallway of the building, who told them he had purchased the guns off the street for $350.

Police said he admitted he gave them to the resident to hold. Police also found a scale commonly used in drug sales in the man's car, police said.

William E. Brown, 28, of Newtowne Drive, was charged with two counts of weapons violations, police said.

Ice cream stolen

A family ran off with two ice cream cones Friday from Storm Bros. at City Dock, city police said.

The owner told police that at about 3 p.m., a customer tried to use a credit card to purchase his ice cream, but the store takes only cash. The man said his family would stay at the store while he ran to an ATM. However, the store was busy, and the next thing he knew the man and his family had run off with the frozen treats, police said.

The ice cream was valued at $6.

North County

Burglary

A man was charged with theft Wednesday after county police said they linked him to a burglary at a Pasadena home.

At 6:15 p.m. officers were called to a home in the 8000 block of Rugby Road. A man living at the home told police someone had broken into his house and stole several items while he was away.

Police investigated and connected a neighbor to the crime.

Matthew David Weller, 37, of Rugby Road, was charged with theft over $500, first-degree burglary, and other offenses.

Restaurant robbery

A man was arrested after county police said he robbed a Brooklyn Park fast-food restaurant Aug. 17.

At 4:45 p.m., police were called to the McDonald's restaurant at 5051 Ritchie Highway.

Employees told police a man with a knife walked into the restaurant with the weapon and demanded cash from the register. He ran, but employees gave police a good description of him.

Police searched the area and saw a man matching the description near the McDonald's. Witnesses identified him as the man who robbed the restaurant, police said, and police found a knife in his pocket.

Michael Joseph Grossman, 38, of no fixed address, was charged with armed robbery and second-degree assault.
