Officer assaulted

A Parole man was charged with assault Friday after police said he kicked an officer as he was being arrested, city police said.

Police were called to The Federal House at 22 Market Space at 11:30 a.m. for the report of a man walking out on a tab. Employees followed the man, and officers caught up to them at Main and Conduit streets.

The man became belligerent and yelled profanity at the officers and passersby, police said. As officers were arresting him, he resisted, kicking one of them repeatedly, police said.

Eric P. Hansel, 21, of Francis Nicholson Way was charged with disorderly conduct and assault, police said.

The restaurant was able to charge the bill to the man's credit card.

Theft from boat

More than $500 worth of merchandise was stolen sometime during the weekend from a boat docked at a private pier in Annapolis, county police said.

The owner of a 1975 Marinette Express boat told police someone entered her boat while it was docked in the 200 block of Cape Saint John Road. She said she had been away from the boat since Thursday, and when she returned to the boat at shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, she noticed that the canopy canvas was not fully attached and there were large footprint indentations on the beach and near her pier, police said.

There were several items missing from the boat, including two fishing poles, a radio, a tackle box and multiple bottles of alcohol.

Police are still investigating.

Drug arrest

A Lothian man was arrested Monday after police said he had marijuana in his possession.

Police spotted the man sitting in a parked car on College Creek Terrace at about noon. The officer recognized the man as someone who was banned from city Housing Authority property and put him under arrest, police said.

During the arrest, officers found a digital scale and 13.9 grams of marijuana, police said.

James E. Chase, 28, was charged with drug possession with the intent to distribute and trespassing, police said.
