Police assaulted
Police arrested a New York man on charges of assaulting three police officers, defacing property and resisting arrest in an incident early Saturday morning.
At 12:58 a.m., county police went to the Davidson Beauty Supplies store on Jennifer Road in Annapolis after the burglary alarm went off, according to a police report.
When police arrived they saw a man, later identified as Michael Joseph Hodson, 18, from Baldwinsville, leaving the shop's front door area, the report stated. While an officer spoke with the man, another officer noticed that the shop's door was scuffed at the bottom and at eye level.
"There was also a large wet area, which covered the door's lower half and the sidewalk immediately in front of it," the report stated. A dress belt was lying on the ground and "a strong odor of urine was emanating from the wet area.
"The man was stumbling and tried to button up his pants, police said. He smelled like alcoholic beverages, his shoes were scuffed and he had a cut on his forehead. He told officers that he was staying at a nearby hotel.
A street sweeper later told officers he saw that man bang the door with his head several times.
Mr. Hodson was arrested, but kicked and flailed, and tried to hit an officer. When police tried to put him in one of their cruisers, he tried to bite one of them on the arm, then tried to bite another officer's hand.
Police restrained him using rope around his legs and a spit mask, and charged him with three counts of assaulting a police officer, malicious destruction of property and resisting arrest.
