Woman punched
A city man was charged with assault Sunday after city police said he punched a woman near her Newtowne Drive home.
The victim, 37, told police she was talking to a friend on the phone outside her apartment at about 12:30 a.m. when a man approached her. He accused her of being on the phone with the police and punched her face, knocking her to the ground, police said.
She was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center by ambulance.
Gregory A. Wells, 21, of Oaklawn Avenue, was charged with the assault, police said.
Teens arrested
Two teenagers were arrested Saturday after police said they held up a city resident with a BB gun and tried to take his scooter.
The Spa Road resident, 31, told police he had just arrived home at about 9 p.m. when two teens approached him. One pointed a gun while the other demanded the keys to the scooter, police said.
The victim handed the keys over, but the teens were unable to start the scooter. They pushed it down the street, and the victim approached them in an effort to get it back. One of the teens sprayed the victim with mace and ran, police said.
Officers found two teens matching the suspects' description in the area and arrested them.
Gerard A. Parker, 18, of Madison Street, and a 15-year-old from Glen Burnie were both charged with robbery, police said.
Officers found a BB gun in a nearby wooded area that they believe was used in the robbery, police said.
West County
Electronics stolen
More than $3,600 worth of video game consoles and other electronics were stolen from a Laurel home Friday, county police said.
The resident of the house in the 300 block of Park Hall South told police she returned home at 9 p.m. and noticed her dogs were in the front yard and the gate was wide open.
The woman, 37, went to the backyard and noticed the kitchen window and back door were open, police said.
Several items had been stolen from the home, including a Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation 3, Sony PlayStation 2, a portable PlayStation PSP, black laptop computer and a blue Sony laptop computer.
Apartment burgled
Hats, jewelry and other accessories were stolen from a Crofton apartment Thursday, county police said.
A woman, 42, had returned to her apartment in the 900 block of Eastham Court at 1:35 p.m. and noticed the lock on her door was bent.
She searched her home and discovered several purses and hats, as well as jewelry had been stolen, including two silver rings and three gold necklaces. Her daughter's ceramic piggy bank, which was packed with coins, also had been snatched, police said.
The stolen items are valued at $2,000.
Tires stolen
A Laurel man was leaving for work Wednesday when he saw that the wheels had been stolen off of his sport utility vehicle, county police said.
At 6:40 a.m. the man, 35, of the 3500 block of Lauren Fort Meade Road was leaving his home when he noticed his gray 2003 Ford Expedition was propped on bricks and all four wheels were missing.
Replacement of the wheels is estimated at $6,000.
North County
Man robbed
A Baltimore man was robbed Monday morning while trying to help two stranded motorists in Brooklyn Park, county police said.
The man, 42, was driving on Wasena Avenue at Church Street at about 5:45 a.m. when a man and woman flagged him down and said they were having car trouble. Details about him were not available.
As the Baltimore man pulled over to help, the man pulled out a gun and demanded money. The driver handed over his wallet, and was not injured.
The man and woman ran toward Matthews Court.
The robber is described as white, age 30 to 40, and wore a dark hooded sweatshirt.
The woman is described as white, also from 30 to 40 years old, with blonde hair, and was wearing a white jacket.
Man shot own leg
A Glen Burnie man, 45, accidentally shot himself in the leg Sunday while he was putting away his handgun, county police said.
The man told police that at just before 2 p.m. he was putting his gun away in the 1000 block of Dumbarton Road when he shot himself once in the left upper leg.
He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with a nonlife-threatening injury, police said. No charges have been filed.
Home invasion
A man forced his way into a Glen Burnie apartment Saturday and demanded the resident hand over cash and drugs, county police said.
At 8:35 p.m., the male resident, 20, was talking to a friend inside his apartment in the 300 block of Lori Lane when a man walked into the unlocked residence and pointed a dark revolver at him, demanding money and drugs.
The robber took cash and ran toward Quarterfield Road, police said. Several officers with police dogs searched the area, but could not find him.
He is described as black, in his 20s, tall and with a thin build. He was wearing a black hat and coat.
Gas station robbed
A gas station clerk was robbed in Glen Burnie last weekend, county police said.
The clerk told police he was working at just after 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Citgo gas station, 7237 Ritchie Highway, when a man entered the store, pointed a black handgun at him and demanded money.
The robber took the cash, ordered the clerk to the floor and ran toward the Pep Boys store, police said.
The clerk was not injured.
The robber is described as black, 6 feet tall, in his 40s, with a medium to heavy build. He wore a black jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, black gloves and a baseball cap.
Attempted robbery
A man was attacked and robbed at a Glen Burnie intersection Friday night, county police said.
Just after 11:30 p.m. the man was standing at Aquahart Road and Crain Highway when four men and a woman walked up and asked him for a cigarette.
When the man declined, he was attacked. While the man was being assaulted, one of the attackers tried to steal the man's cell phone, but was unsuccessful.
The man was able to escape the group and run. His attackers were last seen running toward Crain Highway, police said.
They are described as four black men in their late teens, wearing all-black clothing.
The woman is described as white, also in her late teens. She wore a black hooded sweatshirt and bluejeans.
Employee robbed
A man wearing a black ski mask robbed a Glen Burnie store employee at gunpoint Friday night, county police said.
Just before 9:45 p.m., an employee of the Dollar General Store at 7385 Baltimore and Annapolis Blvd. was counting the day's earnings in the back room of the business when a man pointed a black handgun at him and demanded the cash.
The robber grabbed the cash, pushed the employee to the ground and ran out the back door in an unknown direction, police said.
Officers, including a K-9 unit and aviation unit, searched the area but could not find the robber.
He is described as black, with a medium complexion, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium build. He wore a dark jacket, possibly green or black and had a black handgun.
Crash injures two
A man was seriously injured and his passenger critically injured Friday when the car they were traveling in drifted off the road and struck a tow truck in Linthicum, county police said.
At 7:50 p.m., Kenneth Charles Woodall, 29, of Halethorpe, was driving a 2007 Hyundai Elantra south on Hammonds Ferry Road near Maritime Boulevard when the vehicle drifted to the right shoulder.
The Hyundai struck the back of a tow truck that was parked on the side of the road in order to remove a vehicle in a separate accident.
Mr. Woodall was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was listed in serious condition Monday.
His passenger, Crystal Nicole Sullivan, 29, of Baltimore, was taken to the shock trauma center, where she was listed in critical condition Monday, police said.
