Tools taken

Someone stole more than $1,400 worth of tools last week from a truck parked on Woods Drive in Annapolis, city police said.

The victim told police the tools were taken between Friday night and Monday afternoon. They were kept in a covered rear bed of his pickup truck, which is kept locked, but the cover had been forced open, police said.

Severna Park

Jewelry stolen

Someone stole two rings out of an employee's purse Monday while she worked at a Severna Park coffee shop, county police said.

Tina Alder, 44, of Millersville told police she had taken off a silver band and gold cluster ring while she worked at Starbucks at 573 Ritchie Highway and had placed the jewelry in her pocketbook under the counter.

At about 9:45 p.m., Ms. Alder looked in her purse and discovered the rings, valued at $2,000 were missing.

Queen Anne's County

Employee theft

A sales associate was charged Dec. 11 with stealing from a store at the Prime Outlets in Queenstown where she worked, the Queen Anne's County Sheriffs Department said.

Janice McCort, regional loss prevention officer for Quiksilver stores, told deputies that during routine sales checks the Queenstown store discovered it was ranked one of the highest in the company for cash returns.

While investigating, the store linked many of the returns to one sales associate, and they appeared to be fake, deputies said.

When questioned, the sales associate admitted she would create fake sales, then fake sales returns later in the day and take the cash, deputies said.

Nikki B. Buckius, 20, of Henderson, was charged with two counts of theft over $500, theft under $500 and theft scheme under $500.

The estimated loss for Quiksilver is $2,500, deputies said.

North County

Two Pasadena men were arrested Tuesday in connection to a burglary in Pasadena early last month, county police said.

On Nov. 8, police investigated a break-in in the 200 block of 210th Street in which $25,000 worth of property was reported stolen.

Within the last month, detectives and crime scene technicians linked two Pasadena men to the crime.

On Tuesday, detectives served a search and seizure warrant in the 500 block of A Street and found the majority of missing property.

Thomas Dale Nelson, 18, of A Street, and Zachary Shawn Mackin, 18, of Dungate Court, were each charged with first- and third-degree burglary, theft over $500 and malicious destruction to property.

Converters stolen

Catalytic converters were stolen off of 10 vehicles at a Linthicum car rental business, county police said.

Andy Wendler, manager of Enterprise Rent-A-Car at 701 Wedeman Ave., discovered Tuesday that someone had cut the fence to the rear lot of the business and stolen the exhaust systems.

The stolen parts are valued at $3,000, police said.

Gas station robbed

An armed man robbed a Glen Burnie gas station Sunday, county police said.

At just after 9 p.m., officers were called to the Shell gas station at 7408 Baltimore and Annapolis Blvd. A clerk told police a man walked in, pointed a gun at him and demanded money.

The clerk handed over cash, and the man ran toward the back of the gas station, police said. Officers searched the area but could not find the man.

He is described as white, from 45 to 50 years old, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, with gray hair, a wrinkled face and thin build. He wore a blue, long-sleeve T-shirt, bluejeans and a silver baseball cap worn backward.

A Brooklyn Park convenience store was robbed early Monday morning, county police said.

A cashier at the 7-Eleven store in the 4000 block of Ritchie Highway told police a masked man with a black automatic handgun walked into the business at 4:30 a.m. and demanded money.

The armed robber took cash from the register and ran toward Belle Grove Road, police said.

Police searched but could not find the robber, who is described as white, 5 feet 9 inches tall, about 160 pounds, from 25 to 30 years old, with short, light-colored hair. He was wearing gray pants, a blue hooded sweatshirt and a ski mask.

Tool theft

Nearly $4,000 worth of tools were stolen from a trailer in Hanover last week, county police said.

The trailer resident, 65, said that at just before 9 a.m. Dec. 11, he returned home in the 1800 block of Dorsey Road and found the trailer had been broken into.

Three hammer drills, two skill saws and a generator were taken.

Industrial accident

A worker was injured when a forklift backed into him in Glen Burnie last week, county police said.

At 9:45 a.m. Dec. 11, Karl G. Agbasi, 24, of Columbia, an employee of Crown Trucking in Middle River, was standing in a warehouse at 7525 Connelly Drive when the machinery backed up and knocked him to the ground.

Mr. Agbasi was taken by ambulance to Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie with lower back and left-knee injuries, police said.

Burglary

A woman, 34, returned to her Glen Burnie home Dec. 11 and found the house had been burgled, $7,595 worth of electronics and jewelry taken, and the house had been ransacked, county police said.

At 1:30 p.m. she returned home in the 1800 block of Lansing Road and discovered someone had broken into the side door of the residence and ransacked her living room.

Her master bedroom and children's rooms also had been ransacked, police said.

Missing from the home were three video game consoles, two flat-screen televisions, a digital camera and jewelry.

they got mine too - 2008-12-22 11:29:45

After recently falling victim to converter thief?s twice I decided to try the Catclamp. So far it seems to be going well, two months in the park and ride and others have been stolen but not mine. For now I can sleep soundly knowing that my 4 Runner is safe from these idiots.
