Drug arrest
On Sunday city police officers served a warrant at an apartment in the 900 block of President Street in Annapolis.
Police said that, at just before 5 a.m., police found 39 grams of crack cocaine, which has a street value of $3,900. They also said they found and confiscated more than $4,000 in cash.
Terry Bernard Johnson, 33, of Cayer Drive in Glen Burnie was charged with drug possession with intent to distribute, police said.
Two arrested
City police arrested a city man Saturday after they said they saw him throw something from a car on Monument Street.
At 1:15 a.m. police saw him throw the item. Police said they found it and it was later determined to be 128 grams of powder cocaine. Police said the drugs have a street value of $12,800.
Kim Tyrone Hicks, 22, of Monument Street, was charged with drug possession with intent to distribute, police said.
Home burgled
Someone broke into a home Friday on Windwhisper Lane, city police said.
The victims told police someone broke into their home sometime from 5:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. and took about $775 worth of items, including jewelry, a watch and a wallet, police said.
Electronics stolen
Someone stole a 42-inch plasma television and two projectors recently from Lowes Annapolis Hotel on West Street, city police said.
An employee told police the items were taken from a storage room sometime from Dec. 28 to Wednesday. The items were valued at $4,000, the employee told police.
West County
Pedestrian struck
A Severn man, 21, was critically injured Dec. 30 when a van struck him while he crossed Telegraph Road, county police and fire officials said.
At just before 5:30 p.m., Harrison Douglas Tongue, 21, of 7968 Telegraph Road was crossing the street at First Street when he was struck by a 2002 Nissan Van traveling southbound, according to the police report.
Mr. Tongue's head and body struck the hood and windshield of the van and he was thrown about 50 feet. He landed about 5 feet off the roadway, police said.
He was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with critical injuries, said Capt. Debbie Bowen, a county Fire Department spokesman. He remained in critical but stable condition yesterday, hospital officials said.
The driver of the van, Bruce Kwang Yi, 55, of Woodstock in Howard County was not injured.
Police said Mr. Tongue was at fault.
North County
Drug charges
Two Glen Burnie men were charged with drug offenses Friday after county police found crack cocaine, marijuana and PCP on them near a Glen Burnie church, county police said.
At 7:45 p.m., officers were called to Marley Neck Road in Glen Burnie to investigate a suspicious vehicle.
Police saw two men get out of a taxi, then police stopped them behind a church. Officers saw one man throw a substance to the ground, which turned out to be drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Police searched the taxi and found 9.3 grams of crack cocaine, 15.5 grams of marijuana, and a bottle of liquid PCP.
Ryan David Matthews, 21, of Harold Court, and Michael Allen Dunlop, 23, of Highland Drive, were each charged with multiple drug offenses, including possession with intent to distribute drugs.
Purse snatched
A woman was knocked to the ground and robbed while walking in a Glen Burnie parking lot Sunday evening, county police said.
At about 7:50 p.m., she was walking in an apartment complex in the 7800 block of Americana Circle when a man walked to her and tried to grab her purse. She was pushed to the ground and her purse was snatched from her arm, police said. The thief ran.
Police said the woman chased her attacker, but lost sight of him within the complex.
Officers with police dogs searched the area, but could not find the robber.
He is described as black, in his early 20s, about 6 feet tall, with a thin build.
Gas station robbed
A Linthicum gas station was robbed late Sunday night, county police said.
At 11:45 p.m. two men in a newer-model, small silver car pulled up to the Citgo gas station at 722 Hammons Ferry Road. They walked into the gas station and asked the clerk, 46, for gas. The clerk opened the cash register, and one man walked behind the counter and, at gunpoint, demanded cash. He took cash from the register. The men also took the clerk's cell phone, ran out of the store, jumped into the silver vehicle and turned left onto West Nursery Road.
The clerk was not injured.
The men are described as black, 6 feet tall, with thin builds. Each wore black clothing and a black hat.
