County officer guilty in fatal wreckPublished 04/18/09
A county police officer admitted yesterday he was drunk last year when he fatally rear-ended an SUV in Harford County and then left the scene of the wreck. Officer Dane Hall, who was put on unpaid leave shortly after the Jan. 27, 2008, crash, pleaded guilty to negligent homicide while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a fatal accident as part of a plea agreement with the state. He will be sentenced July 24. Assistant State's Attorney Vernon Gentile plans to argue for Hall - who got drunk with several other officers at an after-shift party shortly before the wreck - to serve seven years in prison for the hit-and-run...
