Alleged getaway driver acquitted

A county jury has acquitted a man police said drove the getaway car to and from a 2007 Brooklyn Park double homicide.

Torin Sydney Baskerville, 32, of Brooklyn walked out of the Jennifer Road Detention Center Friday afternoon after seven months behind bars.

"Mr. Baskerville is very happy," said Assistant Public Defender Shane McMahon, his defense attorney.

He said police should never have filed charges against his client.

"There just was not enough evidence," McMahon said. "The police don't have any idea who was involved (in the double homicide) at any level."
