Credit card fraud
A Chester woman reported that somebody fraudulently charged more than $4,000 on her credit card.
She told the sheriff's department she had no idea how the credit card was used. Deputies reported that some of the charges have been traced back to Los Angeles.
An investigation is continuing, police said.
Assault charges
A Centreville man was arrested on various charges after allegedly assaulting and accosting his former girlfriend in violation of a protective order.
Mark J. Flathman, 40, was arrested Aug. 20 after the victim called 911, saying she had been assaulted and was in his vehicle. She told authorities Flathman would not let her go.
As sheriff's deputies began searching for the vehicle, the 911 call was lost. Soon the victim made a second call, saying she had been let off at Harbour Sound Drive in Chester.
Flathman was found nearby, and a subsequent search of his vehicle found suspected marijuana and paraphernalia.
The victim had a protective order against Flathman, prohibiting him from having contact with her. She suffered minor injuries during the assault but refused medical treatment, deputies reported.
Flathman was charged with violating a protective order, second-degree assault, false imprisonment and drug charges, police said.
