Crofton man guilty in Odenton firebombing

A 22-year-old Crofton man pleaded guilty yesterday to first-degree arson in the June 3 firebombing of an Odenton townhouse.

Jonathan R. Myers - a former gang member who has covered up some of his gang tattoos - faces up to 30 years in prison for the crime, which prosecutors said was a misdirected attempt to avenge the May 30 slaying of 14-year-old Christopher Jones.

He also must pay more than $33,000 in restitution as part of a plea agreement with the state.

The victims of the firebombing were not in the courtroom yesterday, but prosecutors said they expect them to address the court Dec. 8 when Myers is sentenced in...
