Shoplifting
Someone stole about $100 of L'Oreal skin care products Wednesday afternoon from the CVS Pharmacy on Cherry Grove Avenue, city police said.
At about 1:30 p.m., a suspect ran out of the store carrying the items in a red CVS basket and fled in an undetermined direction on Newtowne Drive. The theft was captured on a security camera, police said.
Jail suicide attempt
A 24-year-old inmate at the Jennifer Road Detention Center attempted to kill himself Monday, officials said.
The inmate from Davidsonville was found hanging from a bedsheet in his cell at about 4 p.m., said Terry Kokolis, superintendent at the detention center. He was still alive when he was cut down from the sheet and was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center, right across the street from the detention center.
He's still in critical care there, Kokolis said.
The inmate had been incarcerated Saturday and was being held in lieu of a $250,000 cash bond for multiple motor vehicle violations, including speeding, leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence of alcohol.
