County firefighters were called to the 5800 block of Little Road at 1:35 p.m., said Division Chief Michael Cox, a county Fire Department spokesman.

Arriving crews found heavy smoke throughout a two-story single-family home and called for a second alarm, bringing to the scene about 85 firefighters from Anne Arundel, Prince George's and Calvert counties, and Annapolis.

More Fireman or More Water...your point is misguided and misinformed...This incident started as a chimney fire. These types of fires, once they escape the confines of the chimney usually invole wall cavities and void spaces. So, unless your gonna sprinkle inside the walls, they don't make a difference on these types of fires. Sprinklers are good for kitchens and egress paths to escape the house...that's all!

How Many More - 2010-01-22 09:53:06

How many more people would you have them staff? They had 85 people there; I doubt an extra 2 on a ladder truck would have made a difference. What they needed was water - more of it. Instead of more fireman we need more sprinklers, that would have saved the house. It did mine. I hope the rebuilt home includes them so they never have to endure that again. Its the best $10k they will ever spend.

Its criminal to run any fire apparatus with only 2 fireman in it. But, it happens all over the state.
