Richard Israel

As a former president of the Ward One Residents Association, I feel compelled to respond to the attack on the association and Alderman Richard Israel (The Capital, Feb. 12).

WORA is a residents organization of over 600 members, which works closely with downtown businesses and other organizations. It monitors downtown issues, acting as a watchdog for the entire city. WORA is frequently bashed by proponents who would personally gain from legislation or projects that we oppose. The association develops well reasoned positions after careful study. WORA's advocating benefits the city.

Israel is a champion - 2010-03-01 02:15:17

of the people of Annapolis and he is right to challenge the financial wisdom of the state giving a 50 year lease to the NSHOF on prime waterfront property for a $1.00 a year.
SSENATOR BARABARA MIKULSIK has not a hint of scandal around her years of service in the Senate. She has remained true to her advocacy for working families in MD. Senator Ben Cardin is another who has never waivered in his core principles to represent the people, all the people of MD with integrity. As for Steny Hoyer, he is a hard nosed fighter for the people of his district, the state and his country. MD is well represented by the above three persons and we are fortunate that they have had the stamnina to withstand the stench of DC politics all these years.
An entertainment center at the corner of West Street and Taylor Avenue, a good place?? Across from a cemetery with a need for extended parking and no place to go but up. There are better locations for such a facility, that would not tax the city infrastructure and utilities. The citizens of Annapolis have been hit with "no tax" from the so called extended arts district, more dollars lost to NSHOF. Just when is enough, enough??
