Drugs, car seized
Police seized a car last weekend after they found suspected marijuana and crack cocaine inside.
At 9:40 p.m. Aug. 21, officers on patrol saw several people suddenly scatter away from a Lincoln Town Car parked on Newtowne Drive. Officers investigated and smelled marijuana coming from the empty car, and then saw tobacco from the inside of a cigar lying on the ground nearby.
Police said some marijuana smokers will remove the tobacco from a cheap cigar and then use the remaining wrapper to roll a type of marijuana cigarette called a "blunt."
A K-9 unit screened the car and indicated that there were drugs inside. Officers then searched the Lincoln and found the suspected marijuana and crack. Officers found 12 grams of marijuana, worth $120, and 11.4 grams of crack cocaine, worth $1,140, in the trunk of the car and the console storage area.
The car, which was unregistered, was then seized and towed.
No arrests were made in the case.
