Lobbyists fuming over new ID rule

Annapolis lobbyists will meet Tuesday to discuss how to fight a new regulation that bars them from getting state-issued identification cards allowing them unfettered access to Maryland's halls of power.

If the rule stands, lobbyists who reap six-figure salaries will have to stand in line with tourists, pass through metal detectors and wear visitors' nametags around the State House.

While the image may delight those who view lobbyists as corrupt fat cats, those in the practice say their clients - not all of them wealthy corporations - will be the biggest losers.
