School board bill advances in HousePublished 03/28/06
A bill that would change the way county school board members are appointed passed the House yesterday by a wide margin, but opposition from state senators threatens to kill the measure. Legislation to set up a commission that would pick school board members passed the House 132-5. Although supporters plan to press for passage of the measure, three of five county senators have said they have reservations. Unless they change their minds, passage in the Senate is unlikely.
