Bid to change school board selection dies once againPublished 04/04/06
For at least the sixth time in the past 15 years, a bill that would have changed the way county school board members are chosen died yesterday in the General Assembly. Legislation that won nearly anonymous approval from the House last week got an "unfavorable" review from the county Senate delegation, effectively killing the concept of using a 15-member panel to choose who the governor may appoint. But supporters of the bill vowed to continue the debate next year and find legislation that detractors will support.
