Daryl Brown of Crofton knows the toll of smoking. Ms. Brown, 55, lost her parents, both smokers, to lung cancer. Her mother was only 43. A 15-year cancer survivor, Ms. Brown, who had melanoma and breast cancer, can't take the cloudy air in restaurants and bars that allow patrons to light up cigarettes. Although she has disposable income, she said she finds herself going out to eat less and less because of the health hazards of second-hand smoke.
